5 August, 2018 – Arrival
Welcome to New Zealand! Your guides will meet you at Christchurch International Airport. Transfer by bus to Mt Taylor Lodge Methven. Your guides will run a welcome session and answer any questions. In the evening we will have a home cooked New Zealand lamb roast at the lodge.
6 August, 2018 – Mt Hutt
Breakfast at the lodge. 8:30am departure for Mt Hutt. Full day skiing Mt Hutt. Upon return to Methven, we will visit one of the local ‘pubs’ for apres. Followed by home cooked dinner at the lodge.
7 August, 2018 – Optional Heliski + EUR 720
Breakfast at the lodge. Optional heliski day. Methven is home to the legendary heli operation, Methven Heliski. If you opt for the heliski day you’ll ge to spend a full day heli-skiing (5 runs), accessing their huge tenure across 3 mountain ranges; The Arrowsmith, Ragged, and Palmer Ranges. These mountains catch snow from every winter storm to deliver NZ heliskiing’s most consistent snow conditions and quality. Nowhere else in NZ (outside of the Mt Cook area) can you find the glaciated high-alpine terrain that Methven Heliski offers. On return to the lodge, enjoy a home cooked dinner.
8 August, 2018 – Transfer to Ohau
Breakfast at the lodge. Today we depart Methven, and drive south to Lake Ohau Lodge. We will stop for lunch at the Darfield Bakery for some traditional kiwi cuisine, and visit a Salmon Farm and Lake Tekapo. Lake Ohau Lodge is located in the Mackenzie High Country and is situated between the Ohau Range to the west in the Main Divide and the Ben Ohau range to the east. Once we arrive at the lodge, we’ll have a 3 course dinner.
9 August, 2018 – Ohau
Breakfast at the lodge. It is a 20 minute drive from Lake Ohau Lodge to the Snow Fields. From the 9.6km access road, the views up the valley to Aoraki Mount Cook and overlooking Lake Ohau are spectacular. We will spend a full day on mountain at Ohau. There are great hiking options to access the best powder snow and the views from the top are magnificent and definitely worth the effort.
At the end of a great day in the mountains, there is nothing better than knowing you’re only 20 minutes from a hot spa with a gluhwein in your hand or a cold beer in the bar. A 3 course dinner is included.
10 August, 2018 – Transfer to Wanaka
Breakfast at the lodge. Today we depart Ohau and drive south to Lake Wanaka. On arrival we will check in to our hotel, then you have the afternoon free to sitghtsee. In the evening we will meet for drinks by the lake, followed by a group dinner at one of the local restaurants.
11 August, 2018 – Cardrona or Optional Heliski Day
Early departure from our hotel so that we arrive at Cardrona by 9:00am. Today we spend a full day exploring Cardrona Resort. The terrain at Cardrona is above the tree line and the sizeable ski area is spread across three, wide-open bowls. After a full day skiing, we will stop at the famous Cardrona Hotel for apres. Enjoy a beer by the fire and chat to the locals. In the evening we will have a group dinner in Wanaka.
Optional Heliski Day + EUR 850 – For any guests wanting to opt for a heliski day, we have 7 run helis ski packages available with Harris Mountain Heliski. From gentle rolling slopes, perfect for backcountry first-timers, to snowy bowls, challenging chutes and steep lines for the more experienced, there is terrain to suit everyone.
12 August, 2018 – Treble Cone
Early departure, followed by a full day skiing at Treble Cone. ’TC’ is the largest ski area on the South Island of New Zealand has the longest vertical drop at 700 metres. The Treble Cone ski area also has the highest recorded average annual snowfall of the New Zealand resorts, and at 5.5 metres per season. With 45% of the ski terrain rated as advanced or expert, ’TC’ also has the highest proportion of black runs in New Zealand. After a full day skiing, we will head back to Wanaka for apres by the lake, followed by dinner at one of our local kiwi pubs and brewery’s.
13 August, 2018 – Transfer to Queenstown
Check out of our hotel by 10:00am. Enjoy a leisurely morning in Wanaka. We recommend enjoying breakfast at one of the many great local cafe’s. We will depart Wanaka at midday and drive over the Crown Range, into Queenstown. On arrival to Queenstown we will check in to our hotel, then you have the afternoon free to explore the picturesque lake-side town. In the evening we will meet for dinner. Tonight we catch the gondola and dine at Queenstowns highest restaurant, Stratosfare. This unique restaurants and bar is situated at the top of the gondola, with panoramic views of Queenstown and surrounds. The buffet menu is inspired by iconic New Zealand cuisine and infused with international influences. Stratosfare offers something for everyone, including fresh seafood and great local produce, like lamb, trout and salmon.
14 August, 2018 – The Remarkables
Depart our hotel and we will drive to The Remarkables for a full day skiing. The Remarkables Ski Field sits in the famous mountain range of the same name. They are one of the most photographed mountain ranges in the world due to the spectacular jagged shapes and the steep rise above the shores of Lake Wakatipu. The Remarkables, or the ‘Remarks’ as some of the locals call it, is a reasonably small Queenstown ski resort with 220 hectares of terrain and a 357 metre vertical drop (1,586 – 1,943m). There is some some advanced terrain and steep chutes for expert riders who don’t mind going for a hike. After a full day skiing we wil return to Queenstown. In the evening we will meet for dinner and drinks at one of the local restaurants in Queenstown.
15 August, 2018 – Cruise Milford Sound
Early departure from our hotel. Today we travel to Milford Sound for a wildlife and nature cruise. Milford Sounds is located in the Fiordland National Park, which is widely considered to be one of the World’s top travel destinations. We will travel the spectacular Milford Road in comfort and style in a glass-roofed coach so you can take in the magnificent views. We will then take a cruise vessel which has purpose-built observation lounges and large decks. From here you’ll see just what makes the New Zealand landscape so incredible – the sheer cliffs, massive waterfalls, glaciers and rainforest. Keen eyes may observe seals basking on the rocks or the local pods of dolphins. After a full day visit to Milford Sound we will return to Queenstown for our final night.
16 August, 2018 – Departure
Today we say goodbye and transfer all guests back to the airport.
